Have to agree with him, then again putting your bridge in the center of concentric circles on the topmost part of the ship wasn’t the most brilliant thing star trek ever did either.
Man, does Igor do house visits for his redesigns? Excellent job.
KWCarlson: The main reasoning for the bridge to be in the center top of the Star Ship was to keep it in standing with other Vessels from history. All ships have the bridge at the top center of the vessel to allow for the captain to oversee all of the ship as well as the surroundings. The nice part about the Star Trek vessel was as we saw in later episodes and films the top concentric circle was detachable, thus allowing the captains bridge and the quarters to separate in the event of a catastrophe, a very nice built in feature. But I digress. 🙂
That may make sense on a naval vessel, but on a space ship especially a warship it makes less sense. You can’t see any way around it except via the viewscreen and the bridge hardly needs to be at the top to do that. You could place the bridge in the center of the saucer section and it would still serve the same function and still be able to go with it when it detaches.
