You know, that’s the part that song from the Lion King never really got around to mentioning. Also had this exact thing happen more or less, except in my case shooed a bug out the door and one of the local lizards jumped it. yeesh, nature.
Ahhh yes, nature, sweet, pesky nature. This strip was indeed inspired by a real life situation. Wilma blew a section of our screened in patio (which due to part laziness, part being broke-i-ness was never replaced/repaired) so we have all kinds of critters getting in and around our pool. I try to make an attempt to either usher them back out the way they came in, or, if they already took the plunge, skim them out of the water and release them to freedom. Of course, that is never quite the happy ending I have in mind as I released a dragonfly into the air and SWOOP, CHOMP, dragonfly became lunch for a blue jay. My daughter is following in my footsteps, but alas, she has also had her share of happy endings turned sour due to nature getting in the way. The wife even tried to get in the act, but is now retired from the insect rescue squad as she saved a wasp who then turned around and stung her as its way of saying “thank you.” It’s the ciiiiircle of liiiiiiifeeee, and it gets you nowhere….it’ll sting or biiiiiteeeee, and leave a big welt…..
