WG 327 Wrap Up

If you notice, there’s a lot of things going on in one strip today. There’s a very good reason behind this, my dear readers. When I originally wrote the script for Volume 5 over a year ago, I had Bob showing up alive much earlier. In fact, in the original script, he was shown to be alive on Quoxal Station at the beginning of Chapter 2. Chapter 3 was to switch back between the Starblazer and the Dragonfly and Chapter 4 dealt with the chase and Bob catching up to the Starblazer and showing he was alive on the repaired comms. Chapter 5 would have been nearly the same, but I rewrote the reunion as well as using bits and pieces of Chapters 2 though 4 to cover that chapter. I knew I needed to wrap things up quick as I didn’t want to stretch Volume 5 out any further as I do work on a master plan of when Volume 5 ends, Volume 6 begins and beyond into the Halloween Special and Volumes 7 through 12. So that is why this installment has so much crammed in…although, I do think it works and isn’t overkill since this chapter really is just Bob telling his tale.

So there you have it…a little insight into my writing process and how, most of the time I stick to what was written. In this case though, due to the impact of Bob’s “death” as it played out on the page, I thought bringing him back so soon would have been a slap at my readers and a watering down of the emotions that I brought to the stage. True, it was only a chapter later, but, it didn’t just suddenly appear as it would have in the original script at the beginning of chapter 2. I could have stretched it out further, but then I would have been basically rewriting all of Volume 5…which would have required rewrites of Volume 6 and beyond due to the schedule I have for the whole saga to unfold.

Stumble it!

I’m glad Bob is back, and I really like the way it played out. I think you chose a good time table before you re-introduced Bob as being alive and well.

Thanks. I am happy with the rewrite and looking back, I don’t think it would have worked any other way than how it stands now.
