Take some advice from an expert in data storage. If you are ABSOLUTELY sure the data exists no where else, check again. If after checking you still feel sure, take the ESU to your nearest tree removal business or the nearest place where a chipper shredder is in use. Distract the operator and toss the ESU into the shredder. It would be best if you have someone catch the shredded parts as they come out so you can run them through again. Now that you have done all that, start making plans on what to do if the data resurfaces.

Of course, this is alien tech so instead of platters or solid state, it is written on something like potato skins with glitter or some alien crap. 😉

That should be WHEN the data resurfaces.

And congrats, Karl, on breaking into the top 450 on TWC.

Another way to “destroy” the files without removing them from the hard drive would be to change the extension of the files so they could not be opened. If they are .txt files for example, and you rename them as .png files, no image program will be able to open them and text programs won’t know what to do with them. Unfortunately, the files WILL still be on the hard drive.
