The problem I don’t think that he sees is that she’s impatient as hell and that from her perspective she’s been waiting twenty odd years for this.

And Max had been pining for her for the same amount of time. Because of how she just disappeared without a word, he carried a torch for her, even after moving on with his life, falling for someone else and raising a family. But where Crystal is impatient, Max is dragging his feet because he knows what has taken place to date between them, can really blow up in his face.

Another thing to think about – Mel is gone, is she missing or did she leave on her own? If it is the latter, what could have caused it? This opens a whole can of worms…lol…and I won’t give away where the whole story arc is heading with this portion of the mythos;)

It’s really scummy that Max is cheating on his wife at all. This may be a new low for him. The longer this affair goes on, the less respect I have for the character – no matter how likeable he may be.

I agree, but we all have our moments where we’re standing at a fork in the road. Our choice of which road to take is what then guides our choices at branches ahead. He has headed down one path and each step forward brings him towards repercussions that he will not be able to avoid. Sometimes in life, folks do things that are just not cool. They coast along thinking they got away with something or pulled the wool over someone’s eyes. Is this right that some people seem to get away with it? I leave that up to my readers to decide for themselves, but I personally believe we reap what we sow. That reaping may not come today or tomorrow, but somewhere along the line, we’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do;)

Oh, humans are wonderful at self-deception. We have the uncanny ability to convince ourselves of the most outrageous beliefs. Just think about all those people who thought they looked good in the 80’s! LOL
