Hard to say actually, last year I had to make a decision to either let one of my dogs be put to sleep or pay what was more money than I had, and he would still have been in pain and probably not have survived. I felt like I was wrong no matter which way I went, ended up having to just let him go. Especially since the vet seemed pretty adamant that his quality of life was still going to be low even if he made it.

Oh yes, that is a hard decision as they are family members and it’s hard to say goodbye and know if we are keeping them for ourselves above the fact if they are suffering or not.

That type of decision far exceeds what I am currently struggling with as the hardest thing I am trying to do…give up smoking. Man, it has been hard, but emotionally, having had two dogs grow old and sick, keeping them around and ultimately having them die at home, one in our arms and the other in his sleep, hard, hard, hard.

Leave my ex. Definitely the hardest thing but it was necessary and right. Now I have a beautiful (but crazy) family. My step-daughter loves your comics and tore through the book I bought in no time.

Thank God I never smoked. I think that is harder to quit than a woman.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the needs of others that we forget about ourselves. Sometimes our whole life is spent making others happy that it ends up consuming us. We need to cut loose that which consumes us so we can focus on ourselves.

I thought quitting was going to be easy, I’ve always been able to do things I set my mind to, but this has been a different story. My wife quit, no problem, but I used it for stress. Now, it seems to be exacerbating the stress symptoms, magnifying them, which causes more stress. It’s a vicious circle.

Leaving bookselling behind. I did it for about a quarter-century, and I miss it terribly. However, there are not many indiependent booksellers where I live in the suburbs. Some day, I’ll be back.

I miss the indy booksellers, too. I even miss the chains. They are all disappearing in my area as well…:(
